I just arrived in Portillo, Chile. Pumped on finally arriving and anxious to make my first turns in Portillo I dump my bags in the room and get my gear on. A strong storm is moving into the area but I thought I would try and get some skiing in anyway. As I ski up to the lift I notice that no one is on the hill but the chair was going so I get on. Forty-five minutes later and I’m sitting on a stopped chair, dangling high above a large cliff with very strong winds trying to pull me to my death. I have spent a lot of time on chairlifts. Last season I spend roughly 280 hours on chair lifts. That’s over eleven full days, but I have never had a scarier ride in my life then the one I went on today.

Glad to be alive!

    280 Hours?

    The brakedown
I skied 140 days last season.
    Skied about 3-4 hours a day. (+ or -)
Thats about 1.5 to 2.5 hours in a chair per day.
Around 280 but its probably more.

never thought of it that way. I did 150 days last season on average 4-5 hours, so 2-3 hours on a lift per day. so over 300 hours on a chair lift last season!!! That’s down right funny
