Ts Marte, Las Lenas

“Tim…. Tim, wake up! You hear the bombs going off out there? We got Pow!!” I’m up, I’m up, I mumble to my roommate. A moment later I hear the sound of a shower running and a tea kettle whistling from the kitchen. 20 minuets later, I am dressed and working my way to the lifts. As I make my way through the village the sun is creeping over the eastern peaks. No lifts are running but I have a good feeling about the day to come.

I roll up to Neptuneo at 5 pass 9:00 but the chair is not moving. Big surprise. I wait around for a half hour and then an hour still nothing. Long story short, Marte opens at 10:30 with over a foot and a half of fresh pow! Their are less then 20 gringos making turns and the skiing is unreal.

Rundown of todays runs

1. All runs leading back to the Marte are closed so we are forced down the front face. I’m the first to drop into Cartel with a hoard of gringos hot on my tail. Visibility is low, snow is deep and the run just keeps going and going. ahhh the return of Marte.

2. Back on the Marte and I spot my good friend Tato hauling ass under the lift. Off the lift and directly amongst it. The light is much better and the snow is super consistent. Fucking RAD.

3. I make my way over to Edwardos with my new found Swedish friend. We shoot for first dibs but we are a little late. Compared with what we had seen so far this morning it looks like a circus has march its way down the middle of the run. Bummer.

4. We head back up the Marte gunning for Vegas. No such luck. So we head back under the lift and into Left Classico. Another solid run!

5. Back at the top for another run and we have our mindset on Franky’s. “Franky’s? Yo I just saw like 15 dudes coming down Franky’s” OK then friend, where are the goods? “Human Error” GREAT CALL!!!!

6. Last uplift on the Marte and the decision is clear, Paradiso. By this point my legs are burning and I struggle on every turn but hey what a day.

Nice session. I always thought Eduardo’s was a good call early on cause you can cut across to Neptune saving a lift. Human E may have the one of best fallines on the mtn, thanks for the breakdown.

Las Leñas is definitely the most important ski resort in Argentina. The Andes Mountains are the highest outside of Asia with reliable skiing every ski season. Dry, plentiful powder, all levels welcome, Nordic skiing, incredible off-piste skiing and a base up at 2,240 metres describes Argentina’s most important ski resort, Las Leñas.
