The roads leading to the resort and over the pass into Argentina have once again closed so I make my way to the cost and a city called Valparaiso
Valparaiso was once a major stop for cruise liners making their way around Cape Horn, the southern tip of South America. Everything changed in 1914 when the, American built, Panama Canal officially opened. The canal greatly reducing the time it took for wealth Europeans to get to Americas west costs. This made the once popular Valparaiso a forgotten city virtually overnight. Because of this the city feels like you have just steeped into a time machine.
